Babies don't smile until they are 6 weeks....or so they say!

Lachlan had a visitor today...his cousin Hannah. He was just so happy to see her and was continually smiling at her for at least 10 minutes. We are enjoying Lachlan so much....honestly, a gift from God!

Home Sweet Home - It's been freezing in Canberra

Thursday and Friday have been freezing, well and truly down in the minuses. Thursday was a pretty quite day at home, but on Friday the whole family ventured out to the Hyperdome for lunch and a bit of shopping.
Picture 1: Grandma and Grandpa Downs arrived home from Brisbane on Wednesday. Little Lachy was a must see and a must hold!

Picture 2: Michael and Diane came to visit.

Picture 3: Cousin Sarah has a hold.

Picture 4: Life for Lachlan is still pretty "cruisy".

The Weekend

This weekend was pretty full on for Lachlan. A few outings here and there. On Saturday we went to see his great aunty Vicki who was visiting from Sydney. Dad went to the football to watch the Canberra Raiders beat Parramatta. However, grandpa Ceely was at home trying to "brainwash" little Lachlan into becoming a Parra supporter. Shame on him!

Picture 1: By the look on Lachlan's face he didn't like the idea of supporting Parramatta. The Raiders gace it to Parra and won 38 - 10.

Sunday was Lachlans first church service and dad was preaching. Little Lachy slept through the whole service. After sevice we came home and went for a walk up to the local shops....Lachlan was awake the whole time enjoying the sunlight on his face and hearing all the new sounds

Picture 2: Aunty Michelle has a cuddle of little Lachlan.

Picture 3: A special present from our neighbours Jamie and Leanne - A baby cake made up of towels, a little hat, face washers and a teddy. What a great idea!

Community Nurse Comes to Visit

Today the community nurse came. Lachlan has put on approx 340 grams since leaving hospital on Tuesday. The nurse was surprised saying that he's put on the same amount of weight that they expect babies to put on in 2 weeks. Mothers milk is just right!

Picture 1: Community Nurse comes to visit and give our little man a clean bill of health. But if he keeps this weight gain up he'll be a big boy before we know it!

Picture 2: More of the same today...sleeping and eating. Here I managed to get a shot of him yawning. By the way....I think he'll be a fireman when he grows up, he was testing his hose on Daddy today!

Picture 3: I wonder where these feet will take him? Lachlan has already been invited to the Torres Strait to do some fishing (thankyou Bro and Sis Charlie David). Last night we ran the orphanage in North East India and they desperately want to see him there. "Lord, I pray he uses these feet for you and goes where You want him".

Lachlan is 1 Week Old - 8 June 2007

Well, it has been one week since the big day and Lachlan is changing everyday. He definately prefers being home in his own house rather than being at the hospital. Since bringing him home he's been sleeping much better. Lachlan is also very alert and likes looking around the place. For the last few days between 11:00am and 12:00pm he likes to sit in his rocker looking at things in the room and amusing himself. Anyway...here's some pictures.

Picture 1: Some of Lachlan's fan mail.

Picture 2: Lachlan kicking back and enjoying life. Life is great....sleep and eat! Plus, everybody wants him to put weight on! Enjoy it son you can only do this once in life.

Picture 3: Mummy loves Lachlan, and Lachlan loves mummy.....alot. At the moment they spend lots of time together....even during the night.

Picture 4: This little "smile" (i'll call it a smile) is for Poppa and Nana Downs who are in Brisbane. "Come home soon!"

Go Raiders

Lachlan is a new supporter of the mighty Canberra Raiders. On Wednesday morning Daddy went to Rebel Sport to get a little supporter teddy. There would be nothing worse that Laura giving him a Knights Teddy or Grandpa Ceely giving him a Parramatta Teddy.

His First Outing

Wednesday night is Home Friendship Group and little Lachlan is the newest member of our group. We went to Grandpa and Grandma Ceelys house for HFG and Lachlan got to met everyone. Everyone was glad to see him. I'll have to have a few words with him, he slept right through the whole thing.

Picture 1: Heidi pays a visit! I reminded her that he's way to young for her!

Picture 2: Is this a smile of some sorts! He loves his bath. Daddy got to bath him on Wednesday night.

Picture 3: Daddy and Lachlan catching up on some z's.
SPECIAL THANKS to everyone who has been helping us out with meals....thankyou Lisa, Heather, Cheryl, Pamela, Aunty Kylie and Jo-anne.

The Arrival of Lachlan John Downs

Name: Lachlan John Downs
Born: 1 June 2007
Time: 8:25pm
Where: John Jame Memorial Hospital, Canberra
Weight: 4.28kg (9lb 7 in the old scale)
We can't say how proud we are of our new son, Lachlan John Downs. He's the most beautiful baby we have ever seen and everything we've ever wanted. He truly is a gift from God! I hope you enjoy these few shots of his first few days in the world.

Picture 1: Lachlan and Mum a few minutes after being born. What a chubby fella. 9 pound 7 ounces (4.28kgs). Melanie was so amazing and did it all without any pain relief whatsoever. One of the nurses jokingly said that only Tongans and Samoans have babies that big without pain relief.
Picture 2: Grandpa and Grandma Ceely rushed to hospital to meet him immediately.

Picture 3: Way too proud (God help me!).

Picture 4: Nana Downs with first grandson Lachlan.

Picture 5: A special father and son moment.

Picture 6: This guy is way too good looking!

Picture 6: Tuesday 5 June - All dressed up and ready to take on the world! We took him home this day!

Picture 7: Tuesday 5 June - Time to leave the hospital.

Picture 7: Tuesday 5 June - Time to leave the hospital in his lovely blanket knitted by Great Grandma Rankin in Melbourne. Thanks Nan!
