Lachlan at almost 13 months.....for the record

- Walks everywhere! Even tries to run sometimes :) He loves being on his feet.
- Gives kisses
- Gets REALLY excited when playing with balls
- Still wakes up once a night (around 3)
- Says 'this' when pointing at things he wants
- Says a few more words. Some words he is trying to copy what we say, like 'teddy bear' and 'dear Jesus' - very cute. All the words I can think of that he says at the moment are: mum, dad, dee (birdie), ta, cheese, teddy bear, dear Jesus, brrmmm (not a word, I know! but it means 'car' :) ), has said 'pop' once, that's all for now.
- Eats lots and loves meat and yoghurt - not together.
- Is changing from two 2 hour sleeps to maybe one 3 hour sleep a day.
- LOVES books.

Arrrrrrrrrrr

On Saturday night we went to a 'princess and pirate' party. Here are the two most handsome pirates around.......

Aunty Vicki

Lachlan actually has 3 Aunty Vicki's! But one of his Aunty Vicki's made this beautiful quilt and gave it to us for Lachlan.

She has been asked to display it as part of a study done on quilting. It is ALL hand quilted!!!!!!

THANK YOU AUNTY VICKI!

Lachlan's First Birthday!!!!!

Last Sunday was Lachlan's first birthday!
In the morning, we gave Lachlan his little birthday present, and headed off to church.
After church, we celebrated with family and some friends. Lachlan was quite oblivious to everything that happened, but enjoyed having so many people around.
Here are a few pictures from the big day!

Update on Lachlan

Yesterday we took Lachlan to a different doctor who told us to take lachlan for a blood test. When we got there they tried his veins, but couldn't find a big enough vein (he hadn't had much to drink that morning) so had to do a heel prick. This sounds so much nicer than in the arm, but it wasn't. They pricked his heel 3 times and had to collect the blood from the tiny droplets that come out of a prick!!! It took ages, or it felt like ages!
Anyway, we got the results today and it turns out Lachlan does not have German Measles, but rather just a viral rash (which is from his body fighting something).
We are very happy.

At The Park

Jonathan had one more 'Paternity Day' left to take before lachlan turned 1. We had planned to go to Tidbinbilla for the day, but it was a bit cold so we went for a little visit to the park. Lachlan loved it! He is just soaking everything in at the moment, and was noticing everything.

SO CUTE!

After the park, lachlan went straight to sleep. When he woke up, I put him on the floor in his bedroom. A little while later, we noticed it was a bit quiet and went and found him reading 'Spot Goes To The Park' Ha ha!

What a day!

This morning I took Lachlan into the drop in medical centre while Jonathan headed off to church to preach. Three hours later....I came home with a little German Measles boy! Lachlan has (or had) an appointment for his MMR immunisation tomorrow morning...well, he beat us to it and managed to pick up GM. Thankfully, he is not sick, just covered head to toe with a rash - still not very pleasant!

The doctor said that he should be clear from the rash and not contagious within 2-3 days, so everything is still going ahead for his BIRTHDAY NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some pictures (taken on our new camera) tonight just before he went to the land of nod. The red cheek is not his rash - he had just fallen onto a block :(

Into EVERYTHING!

Each week, Lachlan seems to be becoming more and more adventurous. He wants to explore absolutely everything.......

At least my 'tupperware cupboard' gets a tidy every couple of days!

He is now taking steps. The most we think was about 8 steps at once. I think we should prepare for another time of bumps and bruises as he learns to be more steady on his feet!!

Lachlan's First Scribble

Of course, we don't usually let Lachlan play with pens, but last night at church I gave him my pen and showed how it drew. This is his very first piece of art, or maybe his first story, I'm not sure.

Well, a bit of a funny 'first', but seriously, I was amazed that he held the pen with his fingers, not his fist. I'll have to find my old art teaching text book to read about what babies do.

First Hair Cut

Finally we decided to trim Lachlan's hair :(

He has been looking like a little '70ish lately, with his locks over his ears!
He wasn't too sure about the whole thing, but managed to sit there for the whole time. Grandma did a fantastic job!

Thanks Grandma!!

My Talented Pop!

Lachlan's Pop made him this trolley with blocks. Lachlan LOVES it. For the past 2 days it is almost all he has played with.

Thanks Poppy :)

11 Months

Lachlan is 11 months old today. I have been thinking about his birthday lately - very exciting, although it will probably be a small family get-together for now - I think I will try to make his 2nd birthday bigger with his 'friends' from church :)

Here is what Lachlan understands at 11 months:
- Mum, Dad, Lachlan
- Book, ball, duck, brush
- Dummy, drink, nappy
- Teddy, Old MacDonald, 'Toot-toot Train'
- Cuddle, kiss, wave
- Clap hands, praise the Lord, singing
- Walking, Shoes, socks
- Birdies, pussy cat, puppy
- No
- Bath, sit down, lay down, time to get out
- Nose, eyes, head
- Hat

Hmmmm...need to think some more. I also need to take his 11 month photo tonight....still no new camera, and no batteries in the old one. I will have to scrounge around for some batteries later!

Never leave home without.......cheese!

Lachlan has not really enjoyed being in his pram for any huge amounts of time (probably because he is so used to his mum and dad's arms :) ). So, going shopping or for walks has always taken a little bit of planning. Is Lachlan hungry, tired, will there be something we can stop to do etc.
BUT I have found a secret to leaving home and staying out.......cheese. Lachlan loves it! It will keep him busy through every isle of Woolworths.

So, we are off for a walk now....with some cheese.

ANZAC Day

Yesterday we had our church picnic. It was beautiful weather, and a nice relaxing time. Here is a picture of Lachlan feeding the swans with Grandma....

A Lovely Day

Today was a nice quiet day at home. I made some pyjamas for Lachlan (see below....I'm very excited!) and Lachlan had a lovely play outside (not while I was sewing....I was outside with him :) )

In the evening Lachlan and I went in to Woden with Gran and Pop. Gran found these gorgeous mittens for Lachlan. I thought he would just pull them off, but when we put them on in the shops, he loved them and kept them on all the way home and until he had his bath!

Pyjamas!

Here are Lachlan's new pyjamas, made for him just today!
