An interesting photo shoot!!!

I had the brilliant idea of making our Christmas card this year, and putting a photo of Lachlan on them.

I tried to get the perfect photo by myself first .......
...which just ended in tears - Lachlan too!

Then later that evening we tried with Jonathan taking the photos. Lachlan had lots of fun!!!

Me trying to calm Lachlan down with some singing......

We decided Dorothy might be the one on the front of the cards ....

Or even me!!!!
(We were trying to show Lachlan what to do :) )

We ended up with one that is a bit fuzzy, and Lachlan isn't smiling, but it is going on the cards regardless!

An Early Christmas Present...

We found the child bike seat we had been looking for for ages. Of course, we couldn't wait until Christmas, so had to try it out today :)
Lachlan had so much fun. Poor Jonathan is still getting over his flu, so only managed a couple of laps of the street. After that Lachlan kept pointing at the seat in front of him telling Jonathan to 'sit'.

A Day In The Life Of Lachlan...

Lachlan really loves playing out on our deck. He has worked out how to amuse himself with a few different games!

One of the newest games is swinging his swing around.......

....and quickly running away with his eyes closed, laughing before the swing hits him!

The other day he must have been a bit bored because he started laying on the ground saying 'Bubby' (pretending to be a baby I think!).
Actually, while I remember the other day Lachlan wrapped his drink bottle in a face washer and was holding it like a baby saying 'bubby'....must be all the time spent with his girl cousins :)

And then I looked out the kitchen window and saw this.....

Later on it was time for some quiet colouring inside.

Of course, that ended with some crayon in the mouth.

Out of all of Lachlan's toys, his favourite is the guitar I quickly made months ago. It is all stuck with sticky tape and staples now, but it is the first thing Lachlan grabs from his toybox.

And here is Lachlan with his special blanket. Whenever his grandma or grandad go away they bring back a badge from that place. It has lots on it already!

17 Months....17 things we love about Lachlan

1. When he says 'uv oo' (love you) in a little high voice with a cheeky grin.

2. That we can actually have a conversation with him that we both understand.
3. When he sings 'row, row, row' and we have to finish the song.
4. When he walks around humming.
5. That he bends down to touch his mower every now and then...copying his dad.
6. When he has to wash all the different parts of his body in the shower, saying each one as he does it.
7. When he tries to take my attention away from him going to sleep by chatting about Jack and the ball.
8. When he walks up and says 'hand' and wants to hold our hand and show us something.
9. Early morning cuddles......early early morning cuddles......late night cuddles
10. Growing vocabulary
11. Seeing how excited he is with his cousins.
12. His little scribbles and the concentrated face he has when he makes them
13. Seeing how gentle he is with babies
14. That he LOVES boy things.
15. Seeing him waiting at the window for daddy to come home, or when visitors are coming
16. Tickle times
17. We love that you have completely changed our world.

A Terrific Toddler.....

SUCH a boy!!!!

I have been looking after Lachlan's two cousins on Mondays for a while, and next week will be the last regular one. Lachlan gets SO excited when they arrive. One day Nicholas brought over his mower, Lachlan played with it the whole time...and Nicholas was very kind to let him! A day or so later I saw one at the shops, and for $7 I just had to get it. I made sure I hid it in the bottom of the pram otherwise I knew there would be a problem if Lachlan saw it in the shops. As it was when we got in the car, he held onto it so tight the whole way home.....it's not small either!

Lachlan also loves his little cousins too. He is really very gentle with them, always making sure Audrey has her dummy in her mouth, or giving her toys. Very sweet to see.

Lachlan still loves his books, although now is very into drawing...... I am amazed at how babies learn. I guess I just love the learning process, and always preferred teaching lower primary, especially Year 1 as there is so much growth to see - but every day at the moment we are seeing Lachlan learning something new, making connections and amazing us. I remember reading about how little of our brains we actually use by the time we are 12 years old and older.... and how we actually use most of our brains as babies - anyone know the facts about that, please let me know! Imagine if we could cultivate that and continue using the same amount! It is really interesting me at the moment.

Oh, and Wags and Dorothy are still coming everywhere! They actually made it into the car on Sunday for church....but not inside :)

So, Lachlan LOVES the Wiggles......I don't mind, as I like them myself!!! A friend recently gave Lachlan a huge Wags and a huge Dorothy....and a Wags tail........

Today we all went to Floriade. It was beautiful, and such a lovely day - although a little windy. They had this little petting farm there this year. Lachlan loved it, running from one animal to another.
