Recovery and Red Sock Celebration

FINALLY! Lachlan is well on the way to recovery. I thought yesterday was going to be it, but then Lachlan was just not himself. I ended up cancelling piano teaching and we had another quiet day. Today though, Lachlan woke up nice and happy and has been playing really well. He is a little bit clingy still and still has a bit of a rash (from a viral thing - the doctor said this is good!).
So, we celebrated with a picnic and play outside today......and some red socks! When else in life can you wear red socks with teddy bears and get away with it?!

A Quiet Couple of Days (And Interesting Nights)

Lachlan has been so sick lately. He started with a temperature on Saturday night, and this morning was the first morning he woke up without one. On Monday he was so tired, he just laid on my lap and we read book after book after book. He even fell asleep during our reading session. Anyone who knows how active Lachlan is will know how unlike him this is!
Today has been a turn around though. He is a little better, still been sleeping a lot and a little 'whingey'.
He has learnt a couple of new things while he has been sick though - he waved goodbye to Jonathan when we dropped him off at work this morning, and he now climbs up the side of the bath (not so good!).

Sewing

Lachlan's newly covered high chair!
Lachlan has been a bit unwell this past 24 hours (temperature, not himself), so we have had a quiet day. Last night while he was sleeping, I sewed up a new high chair cover - pretty happy with it actually. The fabric is really cute.

Singing In The Kitchen

We sing a song while Lachlan plays the piano, it's called 'Here We Go Singing In The Kitchen' and Lachlan goes crazy on the piano! He takes after his dad in yet another way!
I am sure there is some of me in him - Melanie ;)

Crawling!

Lachlan has been commando crawling for about 3 months now. He has become so good at it. Apparently Jonathan did the same when he was a baby. We have heard a couple of times how important it is for babies to learn to crawl properly before walking. Jonathan's mum used to put a towel under him so that he would get up off his belly.
Last week, Lachlan started pulling himself up on everything, and it is amazing to see how competent he has become in that short time. It made me think that soon(ish) he will be standing by himself and then walking. I did a quick google and found lots of info about how important crawling is (hip, spine strength, also eye coordination, intellectual development). So, that morning while I was hanging washing out I put Lachlan down on the grass and straight away he got up and crawled everywhere! He still commando crawls mostly inside, but I am happy he is crawling.

Sorry

This morning our Prime Minister gave an apology speech to the indigenous people who are part of the stolen generations. I was surprised at how emotional I felt. Today is a historical day.
I want to teach Lachlan to be a fair person, to know what is good, just and to stand up for what is right. We will try our best, but know it is an awesome responsibility. I think we start teaching the next generation by first being what we want to teach.

Last one for today!

So, I know I should do a post a day - not 6 in one go! There definately will be a post for tomorrow though because I will get my camera back tonight and I need to welcome beautiful
Olivia Grace born Friday 8th Feb at 2:40pm.
I have photos on my camera from about 1/2 an hour after she was born.
Congratulations Ruth and Josh!

Mornings with Gran and Aunty Shell

On Monday mornings, I have been taking Nicholas to swimming lessons. Lachlan has spent the morning at Michelle's house. Here is what he got up to this week....

This one is for you dad...

First time swimming

We took Lachlan to the pool last week. He loved every bit of it!!! Hannah came with us and played with Lachlan and Jonathan. I thought it would be easier if one of us didn't swim, so didn't go in. When I was there, I wish I did ... next time.

Mornings

This is pretty much a typical morning at our house! Jonathan and Lachlan have a bit of a cuddle while I do my bits and pieces. Is Lachlan spoilt????? I'll leave that up to you to decide ;)

Hat on my head!

Lachlan has this CD he listens to in the car (when he is tired/upset). Jonathan and I know all the songs....all 47 of them! Lachlan loves music. I will have to try to put a video of him playing the piano - very cute!! Anyway, the only thing that has to do with the picture below is one of the songs is called 'Hat on my head'. Jeanette bought this cute hat for Lachlan when he was born. I thought it was sooo big then and he wouldn't be wearing it for ages. I tried it on the other day and it fit! It's a very cute hat Jeanette!

Daniel and James

Look at how big Lachlan looks! He looks like a little boy instead of a little baby!
Daniel and James slept over a couple of weeks ago. The loved playing with Lachlan, and Lachlan loved having them stay.

Downs Family

Last November, we had these photos taken ... there is another family member to add to this photo now!

Bumps :(

Just had to put this photo up because 1. Lachlan is sitting really well now, and 2. you can see the bruise on his forehead!. Last week he fell onto the entertainment unit ...... and since then I have really realised this is the first of many, many, many bruises. Lachlan is pulling himself up and wanting to get everything, so keeps falling onto stuff. Thankfully he has a 'good strong head' :)

Australia Day

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!
Today we went to Gran and Pop Ceely's for an Australia Day bbq. We had lots of great 'aussie' food including lamingtons and pavlova!

Hayden, Pop and Lachlan.

Pop has promised to take Hayden, Lachlan and Nicholas all to regular visits to Bunnings and Goodberry's when the younger ones are 2 .... we can't wait until this happens. We will all have to secretly follow them to see what mischeif the boys get up to :)

Only just over a year to go dad!
