One of the jam sessions at our place.......
'Michael' is his pick! And we did manage to get it out of between the piano keys :)

And a little praise session too!

The other morning Lachlan woke up (he was having a little sleep in our bed Saturday morning) and straight away said 'A little mouse came to me and bit me on the finger'. Cute to think about the kinds of dreams he has! Later when I asked him to tell me about his dream again he added 'and a dog bit me on the bottom'...not quite sure if that was in the original dream, or added on :)

Love you Lachlan!

VERY slack at bloggin lately!

So slack that we didn't even write a post about Lachlan's 2nd birthday back in June....here are some pictures from his special day!

Dear Lachlan,

You are asleep at the moment, and so is your daddy. I am stealing away 5 minutes to write you this letter. You see, next week you will be 2 and I am getting excited thinking about celebrating the day you were born. I hope next Monday will be as sunny as the same day in 2007!
You are growing so quickly. I found a 'second molar' in your mouth yesterday. Your size 2 clothes which seemed to be so big only a month ago fit you well. You are learning so much too - like all your secondary colours, and you are pretending to read now, running your finger under the words of your Spot books. You are also learning to share, learning to play nicely with others, learning what you should and shouldn't do to other children. You have mostly bee very good at this, although at times it is almost like you are thinking 'what would happen if I do this'.
You talk and talk and talk. Sometimes it is difficult to understand a certain word, and you try so hard to say it again so that we can understand.
On Friday you saw your first rainbow and the next day you found a teddy bear in the clouds. I love seeing you discover things for the first time. I remember when you were a little baby, you were so fascinated by the water and little bubbles in the bath. You would stare and try to touch them. I love seeing that curiosity. I can't wait to see what things you will be interested in when you are older. Will you go through a 'dinosaur phase' where you will be able to tell all the facts about all the different dinosaurs....or a space phase, or a bugs phase?!
You love animals at the moment. You ask if they will be at church when we get there, and you talk about the day when you will get to go hunting with Daddy. You say 'Nol-nol, Daddy, hunting, bush, see deer and, and horse, and, and rooster, and, and cow, and, and zebra.....and the list goes on and on and on :)
I love you completely and find this whole being a mum thing challenging but am enjoying every minute of it. You are my boy and I am your mummy and nothing can ever change that, what a beautiful thing.

Love always and forever,
Mummy

Lachlan is 22 months today!!!!

Here I go, 22 things about Lachlan :)

1. He LOVES drawing
2. He has learnt 'nnnnnnnnnno' and 'have it' and 'I not'
3. He likes lining up his toys around the place
4. He hops around like a kangaroo or a frog A LOT!
5. Still loves his dummy a bottle and a cuddle
6. Loves going to church - he often asks to go and when we say yes we hear a big 'Yeah!'
7. Loves giving everyone a kiss
8. Enjoys watching brumbies on you tube with daddy
9. Gives thanks for his dinner - 'Dear Jesus, food, Amen!'
10. Talks A LOT!
11. Loves going to 'parties'
12. Plays church with his toys
13. Still loves books (His favourites at the moment are Mr McGee, Who Sank The Boat and Brown Bear, Brown Bear)
14. Often greets us with 'Morning!' when he wakes up
15. Likes eating sausages & carrots for dinner (with as much sauce as he can get)
16. Runs
17. At night before he goes to sleep, he tells me what was fun about the day - 'park, Nicks, fun!'
18. His right foot turns in a little and when he is sleepy he trips easy
19. Enjoys playing in any kind of dirt
20. Can draw a face
21. Loves any kind of animal
22. Is still a messy eater
Lachlan is getting so much better at amusing himself and just playing little games with his teddies, his animals or cars.
I was so excited when Lachlan drew a face the other day. He was telling me where the eyes and nose and mouth were as he drew it.
The nose is the blob at the top of the face and the dots are the eyes :) Today someone asked him to add hair and ears to his drawing and he did!

A Very Busy Weekend

This last weekend, we went to Sydney. Jonathan was preaching at a church on Sunday. We left Saturday morning and went stright to our hotel. Lachlan was very excited that he had his own bed (although he slept in the portacot!)

He spent a lot of time talking on the phone to pop, gran, hannah, jojo, Aunty Ruth, nicks, ahdad, grandma and Aunty Shell.

And passing a little bit of time with daddy....

On Monday it was a public holiday, so we decided to stay the day and take Lachlan to the zoo. The last time we went to the zoo was when I was 18 weeks pregnant, so officially it wasn't his first time there :)

We took the bus, train and ferry to get there. Lachlan's first time on all three, he LOVED it all of course.

Jonathan was holding Lachlan over to see the Meerkats. There was a crowd of people around, and before we knew it Lachlan had thrown his muslei bar into the enclosure! All the meerkats came running up and started fighting over the muslei bar.......very funny for me who was standing away from Jonathan and Lachlan :) Everyone was looking at Jonathan!
Lachlan being a lion!
Watching the seal show.

We left at about 4:30, went back to Circular Quay and waited for a ferry to take us all the way back to Parramatta (about an hour and a half travel). Lachlan fell asleep while we were waiting for the ferry and stayed asleep all the way back. We quickly had some dinner (BEAUTIFUL and AUTHENTIC chinese - so authentic the menu was full of things like pigs kidneys, and even our chicken dish came with nearly the whole chicken in there!), and then headed home arriving back after midnight. Lots of fun!

One special boy...

We have held onto Lachlan when he wakes up that bit longer this week.
Last Sunday we all went for a walk up to the park and took some lovely pictures of Lachlan.

2009 so far

Waiting for Daddy to leave for America

What is a boy to do on 38 degree days??!!

Play with water....

and eat iceblocks!
At Pine Island for the first Youth activity for 2009

And a second trip on and airplane to Melbourne!!!
Visiting Nana & Poppa Mayer.....

...meeting up with second cousing Chelsea......

...making tea for Nana.....

...and exploring Nana Rankins backyard!
We stayed with Nana Rankin, and had a great time! Lachlan loved his stay and time with his great-nana!

One of the main reasons for our visit was to attend the launch of an exhibition 'keeps me sane....women craft wellbeing'. Lachlan's great aunty Vicki had a whole lot of her craft in the exhibition, including the quilt she gave Lachlan! A book was written about the whole study and a dvd was made too. It was a great night, and we were very proud of Aunty Vicki!
